Top Blossom Farm

  • Timothy Hourihan

Timothy grew up in Boxford, Massachusetts, and moved to Maine in 2017. He developed his farming experience through the culmination of years spent working in various agricultural fields and services. Most notably, he has worked off-farm as a certified arborist since 2013. Timothy’s passions rests in the practices of agroforestry, beekeeping, raising livestock and growing trees that thrive alongside various annuals and perennials. This multi-farm system promotes both economic and environmental viability.

  • Sydney Gross

Sydney grew up in Hallowell, Maine and got her start in farming as a high school student. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science in Sustainable Agriculture from Unity College. Studying agriculture opened many doors in the farming world, including flower farming. In 2019, Sydney spent her summer as a farmer florist apprentice in Vermont, and fell in love with sustainably growing and arranging fresh cut flowers. After 8 years of various farming under her belt, Top Blossom Farm was born through a dream of raising sustainably grown cut flowers on a small scale for our community and beyond.

the family

Top Blossom Farm actively cultivates about 5 acres of our land with the help of our generous family. Seamus Hourihan is our resident Mr. Fix It, electrician and carpenter. He is a retired architectural and technology professional. Most of our infrastructure on the farm would not exist without his hard working hands and mind. Amy Hourihan grew up on her family farm in New Hampshire, where she then went on to be a nurse. Now retired, if she’s not painting, drawing or print making as an incredible artist, you will find her assisting Sydney with flowers or Tim with the nursery.

the homestead

Sitting on 32 acres, we live and work on Top Blossom Farm. Between Sydney’s flower field and Tim’s orchard also sits our off-grid 30’ yurt, personal garden, and our livestock barn. We have raised a diverse herd of Jacob sheep, chickens, geese and ducks who rotationally graze our grasses, produce on-farm manure, and manage pests. Not to mention we have 4 dogs, too! Our mission as farmers and homesteaders revolves around prioritizing the health of our soils, animals and plants on the farm. While also maintaining a flourishing, balanced ecosystem, minimizing our carbon footprint, and raising flowers, orchard crops and pastured products for our friends, neighbors and family.
